Mr. | Harry -or.-rrsen said at t , e time* that the ?houid be defied, bui only a few j •v-eeks had elapsed before lie agreed that j ;s trade had levelled itself agahn. In .V.i-klani the same opposition was raised against the butchers closing. Dr-ring .ne war v was made compulsory fur the] hotels to .-';ose. and they have not been' :.>r-«vl into bankruptcy. Another good sound reason why the |iresent Act *'.ould be maintained is the great short-i axre of coal, for by keeping places open to all hours of the night it is unneoes---a-r.lv reducing the present stocks. As the raw now stands it affects mc th? same as any other small business, hut I am not in any fear of large businesses. for my expenses are considerably less, and the rent is lower. I hope the powers that be will have sufficient backbone to -■tand by the Act for at least nine months, so as to give it a fair trial.—l am. eu*. v " T. ARMSTRONG.
