HIDES AND SKINS.
A SPIRITLESS SALE. (By Telegraph.—Tress Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. There was a small attendance of buyers at the skin and hide sales to-day. For most lines competition was spiritless. One of the main rcasonsftf the decline in prices was stated to be that the sale* in Australia had been deferred. The difliculty in securing shipping- space also had an effect on the market. Cow hides from country butchers receded a halfpenny to one penny per lb, and ox a halfpenny compared with 6ale. Super freezing hides declined from a penny to twopence and calfskins a halfpenny to a penny. Tile price of yearling s"kins was on a par with the last sale, as was that for salted skins. Dry ekins were a halfpenny cheaper. Tallow showed an all-round drop of approximately £3 a ton.
