PRICE OF BUTTER.

NO ALTERATION LIKELY. (By Teleprapb.—Tress Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Friday. Regarding a telegram from Gisbome to-day stating that it was reported in business circles that a reduction in. the price of butter of probably 4d per lb will take place in a few days, Mr. Arthur Morton, chairman of the National Dairy Association, eaid that tne Government has fixed the local price of butter, and there cannot be any change until March 31. Mr. Morton mentioned that the English retail price, which is 3/4, -will be reduced to 3/ on February 7, and eugfjested that the reduction of 4d at Home had been confused to apply to New Zealand.
