HELENSVILLE SHOW.
LARGE NUMBER OF EXHIBITS. The annual show of the Helensville Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held on the Helensville show grounds to-day. There was a largo attondaucc, several hravily-laden trains bringing their quota of visitors from Auckland and from the North. Despite a not too promising morning, the weather cleared up in the forenoon and the sun shone. The horses, cattle, sheep, and pigs exhibited were well up to the usual standard, and looked well. An interesting exhibit was a sheep with three and a-lialf years' growth of wool, some 24 inches long. The animal had been loaned to the association for the purposes of a weight-guessing competition by Mr. Mather, of Glorit. The number of exhibits in the various sections was remarkably large, and had entailed a great deal of work on the part of the judges. In addition to the agricultural and pastoral sections, there were numerous exhibits of domestic products, liuah as bread, cakes, needlework, and the like. The public were well catered for in the matter of entertainments, there being a varied sports programme provided, in addition to numerous side-shows. Included in the items were harness horse events, and also riding and jumping. Ladies' and children's events attracted considerable attention, the fornfcr competing in horse-riding and automobile driving. A musical programme wa? rendered by the Auckland Garrison Artillery Brass Band. During the afternoon a parade took place, this being one of the features of the gathering. Good catering by a ladies" committee added to the enjoyment of the visitors.
