I A SPIRIT OF BENEVOLENCL, ; (By Telegraph.—Pros* Association.! WELLINGTON, this day. I At this morning's sittings of the University Senate. Professor Hunter movethat the questions on distribution of the National Endowment Grant that have been circulated to the Senate _■■ considered. The mover said the main matter was the W.E.A., and out of the whole page of questions there was not one but referred to the W.E.A. He did not consider it desirable or judicial to confine all questions to one branch only of the objects on which the fund was exj pended. Professor MacMillan Brown said it was a spirit of benevolence and kindliness towards the W_E_A. that had prompted the questions. The Senate did rot vote on the matter which has dropped accordingly. A motion was passed expressing the appreciation of the conspicuous services rendered the Xew Zealand University by Mr. H. yon Haast, Chairman of the Committee, and Professor Hunter, a member of that committee.
