OLD RESIDENT'S DEATH.
FOUND SHOT THKOUGH BREAST. A sad end for a life of 78 yearn we* that of Mr. Frederick Gaudin, one-tiene licensee of the Masonic Hotel, Princes Street. For a number of years past deceased has resided ■with, his eon at Norwood Road, Bayewater. When tie latter returned from town yesterday evening he found his father lying dead in his bedroom with a revolver near by. There was a bullet wound in the breast.
Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., held an inquiry into the cause of death thi« morning. - <
Evidence was given by deceased's son that his father had lived with him for the past fourteen years. He last earar his father alive yesterday morning, when asleep. His father was not up when witness left for town. When he returned home at 6.50 pjn. one of the children informed him: "Grandpa's room was locked." Witness got a ladder and by that means entered the room, where he found his father lying shot, and a revolver was near at hand. Witness stated that his father had been depressed and morbid of late. He had always been a little peculiar since the death of his wife.
Dr. Hagan stated that deceaeed had shot himself.
Mr. Cutten found that the cause of death was a revolver shot self-inflicted, while in a state of extreme depression, the result of illness.
