THE MILKY WAY.
WEDDINGS IN UGANDA. LOXDOX, November -2!>.
The Rev. John Roscoe, who recently returned from Uganda, states that the marriage customs of the tribes there are most curious. The Bunyoro tribe worships a cow, and brides, before the wedding, are escorted to the kraal, where the cow is, and oaths are registered over a pot of milk. Afterwards the milk is drunk. The King of the Bunyoro always marries his half-sister.
Among .the poorer subjects, if a man is unable to raise a gift of 10 or 20 cows to the father of the bride, three men pool their resources and take one wife between them.
The Bunyoro women .year cow skins, and are so fat that walking is almost an impossibility. They take a few steps and then rest.
