AUCKLAND WAR MEMORIAL.
The War Memorial Committee will meet on December 13 for the last time this year, and it will adjourn until the middle of January. Arrangements will then be completed for the big campaign appeal to be launched on January i 5. In the meantime the committee is busy with arrangements for the initial canvass to be undertaken before the public appeal is made. The Mayor explained this morning that the objective of the campaign is £200,000, and as the appeal will in many jespects be not only provincial, but national in character, general assistance is confidently sought towards the project throughout the Auckland district, notwithstanding that several centres are raising funds for local memorials. The museum is open at all times to the public free of charge, while the war memorial features of the proposal should make an all sufficient appeal to public interest and support.
