Mr. and Mrs. Thorne George, of Welliugton, are at GranJ Hotel. Mr. Hugli Morrison has been elected president of the Provincial Executive of the Wairarapa Farmers' Union. ■Mr. Justice Cooper arrived from Wellington by the express in order to preside at the Supreme Court, Auckland. Mr. G. Ton?, of Hastings, and Mr. F. H. Jones, of Napier, go to Sydney to compete in the champion rifle shooting competitions. Mr. Albert Spencer, president of the Auckland Employers' Association, has returned from a visit to the Kermadec Irland*. He was accompanied by Mr. Percy Spencer, of Remuera. Mr. A. C, Bretherton. inspector of the Public Trust Office, Canterbuy, has been appointed to Auckland, Southland, and . Tiinaru district, with headquarters at Dunedin. Mr. Tendail. deputy trustee, succeeds Mr. Bretherton at Chris teh-ureh. Captain J. Campbell, who died at; (Fielding recently, -was connected with the I , late Mr. G. E. Richardson in foundingthe firm of Richardson and Co. For the last thirty years Captain Campbell has been farming. Mr. F. B. Freed, of the Railway Be- > partment, and Mr. A. J. C. Woodford, of ' the Internal Affairs Department, statistician's branch, have left for the United ; States on a visit to gain information as to methods adopted in America in ; their lines.
