HOW TO SETTLE STRIKES.

(To the Editor.) Sir,— -Now that the pu/blic are so fed up with unwarranted coal strikes which put. thousands of other workers in desperate straits, J wish to point out that the only effective way to end this folly is to let happen just what would happen to primitive man if he struck. If primitive man who lived on the chase struck lie would starve. The introduction of subdivision of labour should not alter the ease. We exchange service for service. If a set of men. say coal miners, refuse to render service, then when these people want to get their .bread and butter they should be told that it took useful workers rendcr'ng service to produce this bread and butter, and you cannot have any until you render your service in return for the product of the service you are asking for. This is just what ought to be done with those who are continually striking over such trivial matters, and it is a pity we have not got a Government capable of taking the bull by the horns.—l am, etc., ' TALK SENSE.
