VISE NO LONGER COMPULSORY. Word has been received by Mr. W. A. 33eddoe, Canadian Trade Commissioner, 1 from the Prime Minister, that passenjgers from New Zealand to Canada ! calling en route at an American port, ' need not have their passports vased unless they wish to land on American ■ territory. This means that passengers by the R.-M.s: Tahiti or the R.M.S. p Niagara from Auckland to Vancouver need not pay the vise charge (recently fc increased) if they are willing to stay - aboard the vessel while she is at Hono- - lulu. t Mr. Beddoe has been making repress sentations to the New Zealand and si Canadian Governments for some time •. I past for the cancellation of the rule that c made this vise compulsory on passengers gby the Vancouver boats. They have c been in turn in communication with :-1 Washington and the office of Colonial s Affairs, with the above result.
