ANTWERP OLYMPIAD.
ROWING AND SWIMMING. AMERICAN SUCCESSES. LONDON, August 30. The finals of the rowing events at tho Olympic Games, all 2000 metres (2190 yde.), resulted as follow: — Eight-oared Boats.—United States 1, Britain 2. Four-oared li United States 2, Norway 3. Double Sculls.—United States 1, Italy 2, France 3. Single Sculls.—Kelly (United States) 1, Beresford Britain) 2. Won by a length. The 800 metres teams swim was won by America in 10m 4Ja, a world's record. The Australan team —Stedman, Herald Hay, and Beaurepaire —were an easy second 'in 10m 25is. England was third. The individual times of the Australians were- Beaurepaire and Stedman 2m 335, Herald 2m 375, Hay 2m 425. Had tho Australians swum to form it would have been a wonderful race, but they could not make any impression in the cold water The team has received numerous invitations to swim from Paris, Brussels, and England.—(United Service.)
