INFANT ASPHYXIATED.
A CHRISTCHURCH MYSTERY. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. Owing to the police being unable to tender any further evidence regarding the finding in St. Asaph Street a few weeks ago of the dead body of a child wrapped in a newspaper, the inquest was closed to-day by the Coroner (Mr. McCarthy). who returned the following verdict: " "The unknown female child found lying dead under the gates of premises in St. Asaph Street was within 24 hours prior to that time, asphyxiated by some person or persons unknown.
