WELLINGTON, Friday. 1 With the sanction of the Board of ' Trade there lias been an increase of 1/ per ton at tho pit mouth in tho price of ; coal produced in the northern mines. This increase takes effect from September 1, and applies to all grades, including household coal. However, it is unlikely that the cost to the domestic consumer . will be increased. Tho least possible increase would be Id per cwt. Dealers , jnay decide not to pass on the increase. There has also been an increase in the . price of Westport coal, brought about, . it is said, by the rapidly rising costs of production. In the case of the Westport Coal Company, however, the increase does , pot apply to household coal.
