TROPIC AUSTRALIA.
HABITABLE BY WHITES. BRISBANE, August 27. Tile sub-committee of the Medical Congress, which was appointed to investigate the question of the white occupation of tropical Australia reports that it is unable to find anything pointing to the existence of inherent insuperable obstacles in the way of the permanent occupation of tropical Australia by a healthy, indigenous white race. The constructive suggestions offered may be summed up as regulation or prohibition of the sale of alcohol, better housing and clothing conditions, and the hygienic education of the people.—(A. and N.Z.)
