DEMPSEY AND MISKE.

CHAMPION TRAINING HARD. MISKE A STIFT PUNCHER. (Received 10.30 a.m.) BENTON HARBOUR, August 27. Jack Dempsey is carrying out a rigorous training campaign. He is boxing daily with the three negro fighters with whom he trained for the Willard match, and is doing considerable road work each morning. Dempsey stated to-day: "I frankly say that I think Miske is* a stiffer puncher than Je-ss-J Willard, and he certainly is faster. He can take severe punishment. Misko is as big as I, and perhaps will slightly outweigh rne. I believe I will enter the ring under 190 pounds. I even hope to reach 1871b (13st 61b), the weight at which I fought Willard."—(A. and N.Z. Cable.) CARFENTXER AND EEVINSXY. (Received 1-7)0 p.m.) NEW YORK, August 27. Jack Curley, the promoter of the Levinsky-Carpentier bout, expressed surprise at Jack Keams' announcement that Carpentier would cancel the Levinsky bout in order to meet Dempsey. Curley pointed out that he had received a letter from M. Deschamps, Carpcnticr's manager, stating that Mr. W. B. Cochran consented to the Carpcntier-Dempsey bout in America, but M. Deschamps had referred Mr. Cochran to Jack Curley. The letter reaffirmed Deschamps' decision to have Carpentier fulfil the contract | with Lcvinsky.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.) .
