CADET COMPETITION.
WOK BY AUCKLAND. With the object of encouraging tha young idea to shoot, from time to time handsome trophies in the form of shields and cups have been offered for competition in the Dominion by various donors. One of the mtV. coveted of these trophies is the Lady Islington Cup, which is competed for annually between senior cadet companies. One of the conditions of t,he contest _ that 75 per cent or more of the numerical strength of the competing companies must tire off. The result of the 1010-1920 competition has just been announced. The No. 18 Company (Auckland), exercising 92 firers out of a total strength of 113, secured first place for the Dominion witjh a company average of sTt.fi; the 30-40 Company (Wellington) tired as a body, and put uip an average of 7.8.7. running second: the third company was the No. 47 Company (Watmate), of w.liieh 75 out of 70 cadets fired, securing a 77.0 average.
