DR. MANNIX'S TREATMENT.
LONDON, August 13. The Roman Catholic Archbishops of Wellington, Perth, Adelaide, and Hobart, and the Bishops of Armidale, Rockhampton, Cooktown, Ballarat, Sandhurst, and j Wilcannia Forbes have issued a joint statement describing Dr. Mannix s treatment as an insult and also an indignity to the signatories, his brothers, and the whole Roman Catholic body in Britain and Australia. They add that Dr. ManniX is regarded in Australia as a leader of democratic thought. They deny that Dr Mannix has received any manner of rebuke from the. Holy See.-A. and N.Z.
