POLICE COURT.
(Before Mr. J. E. Wilson, £.M.) DRUNKENNESS. Three first offenders forfeited bail. Alexander Campbell (58), for a second recent offence, was fined 20/; and Campbell Rodgers (38), for a third recent olfcnce was also fined 10/, in default three days' imprisonment. Michael Francis il'ollov (61), found drunk and) penniless in Albert Street, was charged with vagrancy, in addition to drunkenness, but was able to show that his lapse from work was of short duratipn and occasioned by getting on the spree. He was discharged with a caution. PUT ON HER BEST CONDUCT. Eva Dorothy Brown (2\), admitted having broken the terms of her probation. It was stated that the »young woman had been put on three years' probation in 1917. on condition that she went to the Door of Hope md attended properly to any suitable work that should be found for lifer. iShe had proved herself a very capable worker in two situations since then, but had lapsed twice into the habit of interfering with other people's property. On the first occasion she had been taken back to the home, but had run away and had been found in employment under an assumed name. The report of her was that she was a good worker, but that her honesty had fallen under suspicion. Her mistress was prepared to give thii girl a further chance. The magistrate warned the girl that any subsequent lapse from honesty would probably result in a term ot imprisonment, or durance of some sort, and he added another year to her probationary term, with restrictions a,s to her employment and amusements.
