DEMAND FOR SECOND CLASSr

Application for the 10,868 warn of land for discharged soldiers which i» to be ballotted by the Auckland Laed Board, are coming to hand in fairly large numbers. Definite figure*, however, are not at present available, for is addition to calling for applications ia the Auckland Land District they art being invited at the Whakatane Court House, and as these figures bare act come to hand, the available figures opif can be given.

The first class land comprises 2740 acres, of which 2071 acres are in the Reparoa Settlement in the East Taopo county and 669 acres in the Tβ Mir* settlement, in the Piako county. The remainder is second class land, made up of 7976 acres in the Mangawahe block, in the Rotorua and Whakatane counties, and 150 acres in the Bs.ngtt«flri settlement, in the Whakatane , A review of the applications to iand show that the majority are for the second class land, no less than fiO of the total of 126 received coining under thie category, the remainder bebg for the first class property, the approximate figures being as follows; Second daw land, Rangitaiki, 60; Mangawahe, 30, first class; Reparoa, 30; Tβ Maro, 6.
