Christchurch under th« Board of Trade Act, .were called at the Magistrate's Court this morning before Mr. McCarthy, SJdV The informant in each case was Mr. Christie, secretary, of ,-,4 he Prices Investigation Tribunal, and the defendants were local hardware merchants. the date of toe alleged offences was'*May .12 in each case, and the informations were laid in respect of eales- of "Big Ben" alarm clocks to the informant at a price of 25/,. which was considered unreasonably high. The defendants were the Drapery and Importing Company. (D.1.C.), , Hastie, ' Bull, and Pickering, Limited, A. J. White, Limited, E. Recce, Limited, ' Mason, Struthers and Co., Limited, and G. W. Drayton, Limited. • . ; • '■Mr. Donnelly, who appeared for tbe Board of Trade, said that fire other cases against local ironmongers had been set down for hearing. These were' being defended by Sir John Findlay, K.C., and Mr. P. C. Skerrett, K.C. An adjournr went had been arranged for a fortnight. The magistrate agreed that the adjournments should tie treated as sine, die adjournments ;to enable, a suitable date to be fixed for hearing, and to enable ah information to be laid against another firm. . •(-' s
