aJUUnTTACTUBERS' OPPOSITION (Received 10.30 a.m.) ' ; LONDON May 12.. • The annual report of the Chamber of Manufacturers states that an organised , effort ik being made by the Trades' Hall Council to emash the 48-hour -week, therefore the Chamber lias decided to strenuously oppose any change ill the existing conditions respecting the hours . of work.' • The master builders'have decided to j appeal to the Government to uphold the law in connection with- the strike against Saturday work. A ballot among the iron trades unions resulted in a majority in favour of - the forty-four hour week.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.)
