ENGLAND'S REVOLUTION.
BIG THEFT IN GERMANY. (Received 12.30 p.m.) BERLIN, April 20. Two blacksmiths stole treasure from HildcshaUn Cathedral worth millions of marks, apart from its unknown artistic value. They took live hours to boreholes through the strong door and th-J safe. the loot included an eleventh century pyx and a gold cup worth £50,000, and a mediaeval image of the Virgin incrusted with jewels, all of which the thieves broke tip. They were arrested directly they reached Berlin with the gold and jewels.— (A. and N.Z.)
POWER WITH WORKING CLASSES. NEW YORK, April 20. In a speech at Atlantic City, at the annual meeting of the Chamber of Coin merce, Sir Auckland Geddes, British Ambassador to the. United States, declared that either the I'nited States must go to Europe with help in a business way or Europe will come to the United States to haunt the nation. Sir Auckland Geddes declared that the British Empire had troubles, but they were small compared with European troubles. Vast changes, amounting to a revolution, had occurred in England ' during the war, and the ultimate political power of England npw rested in the hands of the working classes. Sir Auckland Geddes told his audience that he did not believe the reports of disagreement existing between England. France, and Italy, adding that he had attended many inter-Allied conferences, and the reports of disagreements were fantastic— (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
