The British Lawn Tennis Association has cabled to Australia suggesting that Canada and France be allowed to com-1 pete in the Davis Cup contests.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.) (Receive'! 10 n.m.) SYDNEY, this day. The secretary of the Tennis Association, referring to the London ''Times" leader urging" a re-draw for the Davis Cup, pointed out that the regulations definitely stipulate that the challenges must be received not later than the first Monday in March. In both the cases of the belated entries from France and Canada the committee was powerless to accept. The ease of South Africa last year was quite exceptional, and it was emphatically stated at the time that it must not be deemed a precedent.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.) THE EARLY ROUNDS. <■ LONDON", March 26. A message from New York states that it is understood that the United States Lawn Tennis Association has cabled to South Africa requesting that the United States and South Africa tie be played in England on July 8, ft, and 10. It is believed that the winner of the tic will meet the winner of the England-Holland match at Wimbledon. The United States Davis Cup committee announces that it will advise against Bending an American tennis team to the Olympic Games. — (A. and X.Z.)
