Since then he had complained of paine in the head and that, combined with a constant "house hunt," had evidently temporarily unhinged his mind to so serious a degree that, upon experiencing "the pleasure of a quiet life' , when visiting his daughter, Mrs. Sarali Cottle, at Manurewa, he decided (as per entry in his pocket book, ' - I can't go back"), to terminate hie existence.
