A NEW APPOINTMENT. , FOUR BISHOPRICS CREATED. (Received 11.35 a.m./ LONDON. I-Vbruary 11. A joint session of the Houses of Con-' vocation on Tuesday decided to create j four Welsh dioccsee and a new oeclesi- j astical province. It is expected that the Bishop of St. Asaph will he appointed first Archbishop of Wales.—(A. and N.Z. : Cable., Dr. Alfred George Edwards. Bishop j of St. Aeaph.- is a Welshman, liavin? ■ been born in Llanymowddwy in 1848. His | father was vicar of Llangollen. After! being educated at Oxford Dr. Edwards was warden and headmaster of the College of Llandovcry, vicar of Carmarthen. and select preacher to the universities of Oxford and Cambridge. He received his present post in 1889. Dr. Edwards, who has been thrice married, has written [ extensively on the Church in Wales.
