PIGEON FLYING.

NORTHERN RACING PIGEON CLUB. The Northern Racing Pigeon Club commences its old lilrd racing season on Saturday with a race from Frankton, an airline distance of approximately 70 miles to Auckland. With tbe return of many old fanciers from the front this club has received a big Impetus, anil the membership Is now about thirty, necessitating the importation from Kngluud of additional timing clocks. The club is greatly indebted to a number oi Auckland business men for financial assistance, which has enabled it to commence this season in a good position, and to arrange races from all stages, up to Invercargill. A race from this point, which is approximately SSOO miles airline from Auckland, has never previously been attempted by an Auckland club. The members are, however, optimistic o£ a successful race! The Crown Clothing Co. has donated a 10 guinea trophy for the winner, tbe only condition being that the winning bird Is timed in within 14 days of its liberation at luvercnrgill. The big Warwick Suvace si'ver enp will be competed for from Cliristchurch. The old bird programme is as follows:— I'raiikton, Te Awamutu. Te Kuitl. Ob.ikuue Palmerston. I'aekakariki. Wellington (championship). Christchurch, Ashhurton, Ohakuue, Palmerston, Invercarglll, Wellington, Dunedin. The races will be at weekly intervals, commeoclng from Saturday.
