LONDON WOOL SALES.
7 TO 12 PER CENT ADVANCE. LONDON. September 16. Tlie wool sales opened to-day. The number of bales offered wns 10,525, of which 1900 were from New' Zealand. There was a good attendance, including several American buyers, and a largelyincreased number of Continental buyers. The selection was below the average. Of Merinos there was a fair offering of mixed irregular parcels. Stronger and more general competition for all sorts was shown. The Continental buyers operated keenly. A few lots were sold to American buyers. There was a keen demand for all wools suitable for combing, whether free or faulty. Prices showed an advance of from 7 to 12 per cent above August prices. Faulty, short, and carbonising sorts were firm at late rates. Good greasy parcels of crossbred* were in demand, and prices showed a 5 per cent advance. Slipe and scoured wool was very firm. Lambs' wool merinos were scarce.. There was n fr.ir selection of lambs' wool crossbreds, which showed a 5 per cent improvement. The Bradford market is firm and unchanged.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.)
