MT. ROSKILL ROAD BOARD.
A meeting of the Mount Roskill Tloftd Messrs. G. E. Tansley (chairman), H. Luke! E. J. Herd, J. J. Preston. J. Peet, S. Scarborough, and E. A. Pearce.
Loan Money.—lt wus resolved to apply to the Public Trustee for £1000. being the first instalment of the loan nionev for new road works.
Tenders.—Two tenders were received for forminc nnd metalline Mount Albert Road, and referred to the engineer. Electric Light.—The" Auckland City Council Intimated that when the electric mains fl-e lnid to Knsom they can be extended to Mount Roskill district on the same terms as to other local bodies. The supply, in the meantime, can only be made to the residential area adjolninp Epsom and bounded by Mount Albert Road and School Road. The offer was accepted.
Conference.—lt was decided to meet the Onehungti Boroujrli Council In conference to discuss the question of maintaining that portion of Mount Albert Road (about 15 chainsi near the Royal Oak. now under the control of the two local bodies.
Train Stop.—Correspondenr-e was rerpiveu from Mr. .1. J. Walklate. who dec'ined to niter the tram Rtop at the entrance to the Ure-tree Hill Domain. The question of the other stops, he said, was under consideration. At the request of the Auckland Town Clerk, the Board agreed to the T..S p.m. tram ear from YVellOKley Street to Oneliunga belnj; made a minimum fare car. Waikowhai Park.—The caretaker of TVnikownai Park notified the Board of considerable damace done at the park, amounting to £12. He said the store had been broken into, brass taps and other articles removed. In the discussion which followed Mr J. J. Preston said several street lamps had been broken and street name plates destroyed. On the motion of the chairman it was resolved to notify the police of the wanton destruction of property going on in the district.
Government Tag.— The Audit Department returned the Board's annual balance-sheet certified to be correct, subject to the exiW tion that interest moneys had been used for purposes other than those for which the* were received. The clerk. Mr. It. Itallley. denied the truth of the exception referred to It w-as resolved to protest against the action of the Audit Department in addlne this tag:, and request that it be removed from the balance-sheet
Peace Celebration.— The Clerk was instructed to eupplv the Minister of Internal Affairs with a copy of the Peace celebration programme carried out at Mount Eoskill.
