CIVIC LEAGUE.
At the last meeting of tlie Civic League the following resolutions were passed: "That the Civic League requests the City Council to take the necessary steps to • have an Act of Parliament passed giving j the City Council right of entry to gas j premises and the use of the gas company's testing apparatus for the purpose of testing the quality of gas supplied to the people of Auckland nnd suburbs"; and also it was resolved that the Government should be approached and asked. '"That in oases of aggravated assaults upon children the offenders who have committed a crime worse than murder should be given the choice between a life sentence or their freedom after undergoing a surgical operation.''
