PRESENTATION
Some members of tlie Huapai fruitgrowing class and some personal friends met at the Royal Hotel last evening to say farewell to Mr. R. P. Connell. U.A., who has re-signed Ills position as instructor in agriculture under the Board of Education, to take up an important position in the Department of Agriculture— Officer in Charge of Instructional Work in the Otago and Southland provinces. Mr. George Warren, in presenting Mr. Connell with a very artistically designed testimonial, declared that Mr. Connell, in carrying out their classes of instruction, Jiiid rendered them irreat service. His scientific knowledge, imparted ungrudgingly and at any' time, had meant a considerable saving in money to them. His work, and that of the several authorities who assisted him, made the classes the most successful of their kind that have been held in the Dominion. Air. Warren congratulated Mr. Connell on entering a service where he would have greater scope, and where hie scientific knowledge would lie properly appreciated, the while lip regretted his departure, which meant a serious loss to the fruitgrowing industry of the North in particular and to the agricultural interest.-; of the province in general.
