ELECTION" OF OFFICERS. The annual report and balance-sheet of the Birkdale Fruitgrowers' Association, which were adopted, showed that farewell socials had been extended to Messrs E Warner and H. R. Rich on their leaving tho district, while three "Welcome home" socials hud- been field to returned soldiers of the district during; the year. A credit balance of ±T 9/8 was carried forward. On the motion of Mr. C. J. Elmsly, it was decided to change the name of the" association to the Birkdale Fruitgrowers and Ratepayers' Association. Mr. A. Campbell intimated that at the next meeting he would move in the direction of concerted action being taken in regard to the sanitation charge. The following officers were elected — •President. Mr E. C. Watson; vice-presi-dents, Messrs. A. Campbell. C. .7. Elmsly secretary and treasurer, Mr. C. (B. Abbott' committee, 'Messrs. A. Dale, .7. M Brown' J. Crombic, 'R. F. Kay, and E. Ralnforfl '
