ASSAULTED IN PADDOCK.
i AX OXEHUNOA INCIDENT. A resident ill -Mount. Smart Road, near Onehunga, Mr. William Kemp, had a rather unpleasant experience on Sunday evening. About 0.30 p.m. he went into his paddock to catch n horse, when he saw three men trespassing. Mr. Kemp lit once stopped them, remarking, "You are the fellows I've !>een looking for." Two of the men at once bolted, but the third, who was carrying a hammer, promptly attacked Mr. Kemp, who was taken at a disadvantage. His assailant got away niter inflicting some rather ugly superficial wounds on Mr. Kemp, including one from a blow on the head. The Onehunga police were notified of the occurrence, and near the place where the assault took place found a number of pieces of board and scantling which it is presumed the men were stealing. The ipolice are now endeavouring to trace the assailant of Mr. Kemp.
