Albert Lewis Mcurant, hotelkeeper, Tangitororia, in a statement furnished t«> the Official Assignee, details how with UU brother he purchased 31 1J acres oi land at Kirikopuni, paying for it with a mortgage which they raised through the liiivenimcnt. finding the balance of the cash themselves. They milked ISO cows for eight years, and in 1010 he bought out his brother for £1200, raising the money by mortgage. In October, I!HG, bankrupt sold out as a going concern for £-21)50. The purchaser took over the existing mortgage of £1500, and gave bankrupt one for £250. al.-o paying £SSO in cash. Bankrupt then took up an area at the Bay of Islands, which lie exchanged for the Star Hotel, Otohuhu, where lie did well until the li o'clock closing was enforced. He sold out and took the Tangiteroria Hotel, which was not a success, and he was now working for £4 10/ per week, out of which he had a wife and family to keep.
