SUGGESTION BY AUCKLAND COMMERCIALS.
The president of the Auckland Commercial Travellers' Association has sent the following letter to the president of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce:— " Dear Sir, —The question of the coal shortage as affecting the carriage of goods by the Kailway Department was discussed by my committee at the monthly meeting on Saturday night, and it was resolved to represent to you, and respectfully suggest the advisability .of appointing a citizens' committee to | co-operate with the Railway Department. From the information my committee ha<l before them it was thought that this would lie most desirable, and of assistance to the Department. It is understood that such an arrangement is working well in Wellington and Christchurch. My president (Mr. McGlashan) and two others were appointed to lav this question before you, and give you information on the question which has been oiitained by actual experience and observation.—(Signed) C.
