FATALITY AT PURIRL
A BU__T_IAN KILLED. j Alexander Taylor, a bushinai!, was fatally injured by a falling tree at! Poriri on Thursday morning, and died in| hospital on Saturday. Deceased and a mate, Robert Fiskiu, were falling bush ■on Mr. A. K. Maxwell's property. A tawa tree, about 2ft in diameter, which he had cut through, jumped back off the stump when falling, and hit Mr. Taylor,' who was standing -behind it .pinning him -to the ground His mate succeeded in pulling him out from under the tree, and the injured man was conveyed to his brother's louse at Puriri, and then to the hospital, where he died. Deceased was a returned; soldier, 26 years of age. He left New _k?aland with the fifteenth reinforcement, and returned in May last with a young wife, whom he married in England. He was a brother of Mr. John James Taylor, farmer, of Puriri. An inquest was held on Saturday, and a verdict of accidental death wi r xeturned.
