COMMONWEALTH LINE.
ATTITUDE OF MERCHANTS. (Received 8 30 a.m.) LONDON, August 7. The Australian Merchants' Association has informed the Commonwealth Line that they are not prepared to consider giving support to the line until merchants claims for damage and loss are fairty met. The association is ascertaining the opinion of the business community generally in Australasia regarding the Commonwealth Government's entry into trading as shipowners as against private .enterprise. — (A. and N.Z.
