POLICE STRIKE FIASCO.
ONLY 2300 OUT. RESIGNATION FROM UNION. LONDON, August 7. The police of Bristol, St. Helens, and South Shields have decided to resign in a body from the Police Union The Metropolitan Police Commissioner announces that the total of police strikers in the country is 2300. The raihvaymen have decided not to support the police strike. The House of Lords lias carried the second reading of the Police Bill.— (Keuter.) RAILWAYMEN S ATTITUDE. (Received 10.45 a.m.) LONDON, August 7. 1 The executive of the National Union of Raihrayraen decided that it could not recommend a strike to support the police, and urges members striking to return to work immediately.—(A. and N.Z.
