NOT THE TIME FOR STRIFE.

HON; J. T. PAUL'S VIEWS. QSy Telegraph.—Own Correspondant.) WAXGA3TJI, this day. The Hon. J. T. Paul, M JL.C, who is tit present at Wanganui, in connection ■with the Wellington tailoresses' dispute, expressed the opinion to a Pressman that there was no room in this country for two labour parties, and any effort to promote a Labour party against the XJZ. Labour party will in effect 'be playing the game of Labour's political enemies. He considered that the N.Z. Labour party was more representative of all sections of the working men than any Labour party in New Zealand ias Ibeen in the past. " There are clouds on the industrial horizon," said Mr. Paul, "but if we have learned the lessons that we should have learned from the results of the war, I see no reason wliy we Ehould not overcome or surmount those difficulties. I have heard men in many places suggest that a strike has to come and that it is my opportunity. These people believe that if labour can he involved in a strike it would practically affect their chances at the coming election. I emphatically assert that neither Labour nor Capital has sny right to involve our country in any such struggle as a strike would be. The temper of the people of the western world is dangerous, and I iope that whatever industrial difficulties arise, every effort will be made to settle them on equitable terms without an appeal to force by either side, for disastrous results may follow such an appeal."
