The fortnightly meeting of the Board was iheld on Wednesday night, all members being (present, Mr. R. B. Nesbitt presiding.
The subdivision of -Mr. Lester's property in Rosebank Road was agreed to as per plans In Survey Office. The tenders of Messra Craig and Winstone for. metal at 11/2 per yard. wa» accepted.
It was reported that the increased price, of gas wonld bring the cost, of each lamp as follows:—One light £518/, and two lights > £S 3/6 per annum.
The supervisor's report wae landed In, and the following suggestions were <Hscussed:—O'Neill 'Street: In my opinion the formation of tills street from Mitchell" •Street to Portage Road la quite Impracticable. In the first place, the cost would be large, somewhere In the vicinity of £00ft and In the second place the utSU^ - would be very small, as in the .present state" of Portage Roail O'Neill Street, If put throngs, conld only be used In the summer time. •Roberton Eoad: In connection with pro-' ,; posed work In this road I have Interviewed Messrs. ilorey and Lincoln. They suggest that a concrete -wan 3ft high be erected along: the frontage of the properties affected, and for the owners of these properties to pay half the cost of wall The bank between Walton and Henry Streets to he cut down. These Improvements wonld 'be greatly beneficial to the district, and lave long 'been needed. Cracrolt Street: This street can'be put In fair order ■between Great 'North Boad and nUlirar crossing , , scoria £15, metal £35. Many minor Improvements were suggested, which the Board has under consideration. The supervisor's report of the outdoor staff's work was exceptionally satisfactory. A special recommendation was that of the footpath at the post office. The kerb and channelling along the front of the post office bnHdIngs reqnires lifting and extending- along the Great North Eoad for about 40ft. At the same time a better crossing over Great aorth Road than exists at present would x " be of great advantage to tie public
