AVONDALE ROAD BOARD.

The fortnightly meeting of the Avondale Road Board was held last night. Present: Messrs R. C. Nesbitt (chairman), Hampshire, Morgan. Gardiner, Tate. J. Thomas and Allely. It was resolved that the lioard be represented at the city peace celebrations. The following works, which formed part of the scheme drawn up by the Works Committee and presented to the Hoard at the last meeting, were passed and are to be put into operation forthwith:—Station Ttoad: Footpath along frontage of property, corner of "Walton Street. is in a very sloppy condition and requires a rubble drain along hack and a covering of shells. L,ayard Street: The footpath in this street, from Brown Street to Blake Street, to be j thoroughly overhauled and put into good condition. High Street: The drain along this street requires at least six more pipes at the corner of Victoria Road. This will I enable the storm water to have a more (direct run and prevent the bank from being ! cut away. ! The hospital and charitable aid rate and Ithe general rate has bfcen slightly reduced and a new rate struck for drainage. This does not increase the rates this year.
