WAIUKU CELEBRATIONS.
MILITARY SPORTS SATUEDAY,'£, CHIIDREN'S DAY, MONDAY. *S-f" 'At a -well-attended meeting of the* "Waiuku 'Peace Celebration Committee, Mr. A. M. Barrilmll presiding, it <wa_ decided to hold military and athletic sports on Saturday, 19th inst. The procession, headed hy the 'band, -will start from the Town Board Office at 9.30, and march through -the main, street, up Kitchener Road, to the sports ground, where a salute will be fired. At 12 o'clock the flag will be dipped as a tribute to the -oldiers who had made the supreme sacrifice. Monday will be observed as Children's Day. Tiie children will assemble at the Public Hall at one o'clock, when the ■Rev. J. C. Fussell, chairman of the School Committee, will give an address appropriate to' the occasion, and a memento card -will 'be handed to each child, hearing the words: "This memento is presented, to the :'ahool children -of WaiUkru and surrounding districts in joyful memory of the victorious ending of the Great World War, 1914-1919." On the card is a photo of the King in the centre of -the flags of the Allies. The children will then he entertained at a picture show, and afterwards at afternoon tea. All school children will be admitted. In the evening bonfires and a display of fireworks will take place iin the Educational 'Reserve.
