LIGHTING MANGERE BRIDGE.

An important resolution was moved at the annual meeting of the Mangere Road Board by Mr. J. E. Taylor, seconded by Mr. Walter Knight, and caried unanimously. It was as follows:— "That this meeting respectfully requests the Mangere Road Board and the Manukau County Council to communicate with the Auckland City Council at an early date with the object of inducing the Auckland City Council to instal a few electric lights along the whole length of Mangere Bridge and its approaches (at the expense of the County Council), to be supplied from the electric tramway system, now that the City Council' has obtained control of this important public service. A single light to be placed at suitable intervals apart; and in the hope that this service may be extended further into the district a-? soon as the City Council can obtain the necessary augmented motive power. Hut it is imperative on account of public r-afety that, with the rapidly growing population of this district, the bridge and approaches leading to it (a length of nearly :!,000 feet across the Manukau Harbour, should no longer be left unlighted after sunset, and up to midnight, especially considering that it is within six miles of the city boundary."
