COACH ON FIRE.
PASSENGERS' HUREIED EXIT. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI, Monday. A rather exciting incident occurred on I the Waihi-Paeroa Road on Saturday afternoon, the party concerned being a team of 24 golfere from Paeroa, who were being conveyed to Waihi in Medhurst's "mammoth" car. It appears that the car, while travelling down Mackaytown hill, caught fire through friction on the brakes. A precipitate exit of tha occupants followed, and for a moment iv looked like destruction of the vehicle* However, the golfers set to work and i heaped sand on the flames, which were . speedily extinguished. Considerable deI lay on the journey was caused by tht necessity of adjusting the brakes, which, i had only been newly repaired, and as a result the Paeroa visitors arrived about an hour late on the local golf links.
