The fortnightly meeting of the. Onehunga '...rough Council was held last night, •resent- Messrs J. Park (mayor), K. .1. liggius. J. Stoupe, W. Johns. C. E. r.oode. t. Alnsworth, W. G. Bassett, L. J. Lloyd, I. J. Davies, and I. Lomas. Loan Sanctioned.—The Minister of Flnnce has consented to the Council s pro...sal to raise n loan of £35.000 for new treet works. The engineer reported that he repairing of certain side streets would ost £1641. . _ „ Tenders.—Messrs Isherwood and Bellnm s ender was accepted for kerbing and .handling Mount Smart Uoad. The amount ol he tender was not stated. Plumbers' Board. —Mr I'owell. C.K., was P|M)lnted the Council's representative on he Plumbers' Board of New Zealand. Waikaraka Cemetery.—The chairman of he Ceiueterv Committee was advised to scertaln if two Interments had been made ii one grave during the epidemic rush. Tree Planting.—An offer from Mr W. Varnock to provide trees and to pay half ost of erecting triangular guards to i rotect the same in Campbell Koad wasl eferred to the Streets Committee. Municipal Conference.—Tbe Mayor was 1 ppointed to represent the council at the tiennial Conference of the New Zealand Inniclpal Association to be held at, Vellington. Mount Albert Road.—The Mount Roskilll toad Board wrote asking if tbe Council ,-ould be prepared to pay its portion pro iita for repairing that part of Mount dbert Koad under the Council's jurlsdlc-1 ion. If so, the Board would include it in ne scheme and contract when forming and letaltlng the other portion. Referred to he Streets Committee to report. Ambulance Fund.—A request received rom the Auckland Hospital and Charitable Id Board for financial assistance towards lie cost of pun-busing three new motor nibulauces was referred to tbe Legal aud 'inance Committee. Destruction of Rats. —At the request of lie district health office, it was agreed to ndcrtake a campaign for the destruction of ats. Train Stop.—lt was agreed to heartily upport the action of the Newmarket lorough Council in seeking to have the .'ewinarket railway station made a stoping place for the inward Main Trunk xpress. Railway Fares.—lt was resolved to upport the Hon. W. G. Russell's advocacy f tke zonal system of railway fares. Not Read.—An anonymous letter from a atepayer was put into the waste paper nsket without heing read. Office Improvements.—The Building Comnittee was asked to report on the altera_ions to the office and oflice and Council Chamber furniture.
