DIFFICULTIES OF ADMINISTRATION (By Telegraph.—Press Association.). WELLINGTON, Thursday. Giving evidence before the Parliamentary Industries Committee to-day Dr. Reakes stated that it was extremely difficult to administer the Noxious Weede Act, and he did not know whether it would as framed at present ever be siiecesehllly administered. Asked if he had any proposals regarding legislation, i Dr. Reakes said he proposed to get the co-operation of the local bodies of various centres. of local bodies were elected by the people of the district most affected by the existence of noxious weed?. The chairman stated that there were 300.000 acres affected 'by blackberry in Taranaki province alone. Dr. ReaVee eaid it was largely a question of lnbour. The war had accentuated that. He was no"\v engaged in ! drafting a bill dealing with impure seed, find a lanre staff of the Department was engaged regularly in testing samples of seed.
