FRUIT AND PRODUCE MARKET. Auctioneers report tliat business in the fruit and produce market has been fairly guud during the week, and the supply of apples has been quite equal to the demand. The choicest qualities of either pears and apples are selling at satisfactory prices. The market shows no Improvement for other grades. Small fruit Is scarce. The potato market has firmed owing to inquiries from Australia, and prices will advance nntil the end of June, that is it labour conditions In Sydney and Melbourne do not interfere with shipments being dealt with ou arrival at those ports. Onions have advanced, and are snort or supplies. All vegetables are scarce. Fresh eggs and farmers' butter are Iα good demand. Poultry was again in good demand,- and. Potatoes, prime £10 10/ to £11, medium S/ cwt; onions, imported, J.XZ; swedes, o/e cwt; pumpkins, 10/ to 11/ cwt. Butter, farmers', in prints, 1/6; eggs, frosh 3/1, preserved 1/6 dozen. Fruit. —Apples, local, coloured, extra • superior, dessurt IV cu.3e. good 8/6 to 10/, medium 4/ to 5/, small 8/, best cookers 5/; itcars QoHscrt, Licst up to Hi/ nod. 14/ * others, dessert, 8/ to 9/; cooking, 6/; grapes, hothouse, up to 2/ lb; tomatoes, best 5/ to 5/6, others :i/ to 4/; oranges. Island, 18/ case; lemons, local, prime, 20/ case, good 12/ local, rough and coarse, 6/; paeaion fruit, 5/ to 8/ case, according to quality; 1 flgs, 3/ to 6/ box; melons, water, 1/ to 2/ ' each; walnuts. 1/5 lb. ! Poultry 3/3 to 5/J0 each, medltrm 2/3 to 2/9; table roosters, 4/ to 8/3 each, medium 2/9 to 3/6; ducks, 4/10 to 6/11 each; ; drakes, 2/e to y/C each; geese, 4/6 to 6/3 each; turkey gobblers, 10/ to 15/ each; turke T hens, 6/0 to 8/6 each; hares. 3/ pair; rabbits 1/ pair. There is a good demaud ior table roosters and fat h.-u.i, also for hares and rabbits. Runner ducks are selling well just now. PALILERSTON STOC KSALES. Mesars Abraham and Williams, Ltd., re* port that at Palmerston North on the 22n4 fnat. a. small yarding of sheep and cattle came forward. They quote :—Sheep : Forward ewes 11/, 12/6 to 15/3, two-tooth I wethers (small) 17/ to 18/0, B.P. lambs 10/1, 11/ to 12/1, other lambs 4/, 6/ to 7/. Cattle: Empty heifers £3 10/ to £5 18/, weaner heifers 20/ to 27/, mixed, weanere 27/8 to 32/0, bulls £7.
