SOCIAL JOTTINGS. Mr. and Mrs. Wyles, of Wellington, arrived in Auckland on Tuesday, and arts staying at Stonehunst. The Hon. George Fowlds and Mrs. FowWs, with their daughter, Mrs. Bailey, are visiting Wellington. Mrs. Crompton -Smith and Miss Powlea (Wellington) are the guests of Misa Percy-Smith (Taranaki). Mrs. S. C. Owen and Miss Owen, ol Christehurch, who have been staying at Ptonehurst. have left for Stratford. ■Mrs. J. McGavin, of Taranaki, who came to Auckland to meet her son, Colonel MeCiavin, is at present staying at Stonelnirst. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Hinge are leaving Christehurch for Auckland. Mr. liinge having been appointed to a position in the North Island. Mr. Hinge has been connected with the black and -white department of journalism for many years. Mrs. Rhiiid, who has been living in England for a number of years, has returned to Xew Zr;danrl. She is at present the guest of .Mrs. Molineux. Wellington. Mrs. Rhind and ber daughter will probably settle in Auckland. Miss Bertwistle, a trainee at the Montessori Observation School. Adelaide, has entered the Xew South Wales Department of Public Instruction. Lieut.-Colonel and Mrs. Wilson have arrived by the Arawa in Wellington. Mrs. Wilson was Miss Erica Fell, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Fell, formerly of Wellington. The engagement is announced of the Rev. S. Ogden, vicar of St. Laurence, Aramoho, formerly curate of St. Mark's Wellington, to Miss Aileen Mackay. niece of the well-known surgeon. Dr. Henry Jiurford. Cavendish Square, Mayfair, London, author of several noted medical works. Members of the Women's National Reserve, at tbe request of the Department of Internal Affairs, will be the at the afternoon teas which will be given at Wellington Town Hall next week, during the town-planning conference. Tbe Executive Committee of the Virtoria League laid a wreath of red anc ■white flowers, tied with a blue ribbon beanng the name Victoria league v.: gold letters at the foot of the statue erected in Albert Park to the late Queen Victoria this morning. Th« ■wreath was made by M"r-. Kinder, assisted by members of the League. Last year was the first occasion on ■which this was done, and it is hoped to make it an annual ceremony. A membership campaign is being "brought forward by the Y.W.C.A. on original lines, under the counsel of Mesilames H. E. Pacey. J. W. Stewart and Todd-Smith, and the Misses E. M. GriiTen and W. J. Mathieson. and was performed by the Rev. Enticott. In'the first marriage Miss Mathieson was given away by her father, and looked charming in her wedding frock of ivory erepe-de-chinc with gold lace overdrew, wearing a handworked veil, and carrying a bouquet of white chrysanthemums ami maidenhair fern. She was attended by Miss 0. Sorenacn. who was dressed in white with silk hat to match. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr. Joseph Larsen, both having seen active service. In the Robinson-Larsen mariage, the bride looked very pretty in a beautiful gown of cream crepe-de-chine, with an overdress of silver lace, also wearing a handworked veil, and currying a bouquet of white chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern. She was given avvav by her uncle, Mr. T. .Schmidt, of Matatoke, and was attended by her niece, I ML-s Norma Woods, who wore a frnek of white silk, and carried a ba-sket of wmte and pink chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern. Mr. Benzine, of Coromandel, acted a3 groomsman. After the ceremony over 40 guests assembled at the Central Hall, where toasts were honoured.
