THE DUXLOP SHIELD. RETAINED BY RKMIEIt A. The Itemuera Club bus again proved its right to hold the Dunlop Shield for another year by defeating the Whangaiei team in the final round last Saturday by three matches to nil.

The Whang.irei team registered an unexpected win against Te Aroha in the semifinal last Friday. The match was played on the Itemuera courts, the weather conditions being the reverse of Ideal. The courtH, owing to the recent rain, n'ere henvy ani slippery, and rain continued to fall at intervals during the match. In the siugles Finch (Whangarei) defeated Cuff iTe Aroha) after a three-set match, the scores being t>—4, I—«>. ti—"., while Soiners Te Aroha) defeated Peat (Whangarei). 6—3. '> 3. Each team having annexed one match, the final result depended on 1 lie double which was won by Whangarei. 7—r>, «—3

After the conclusion of this match, Mr .T. V. Kweu. vice-president of the Remuera Club, in the absence of the president and on behalf of the members of the club, made a presentation to Mr W. B. Andreaa. who is shortly leaving for Kngland. The presentation took the form of a silver rose bowl, suitably engraved, and an address. Mr F.wen. in (he course of his speech, mentioned that Mr Amlrrne had been hon. treasurer of the club for the past 1 bree. years, aud that during his term of administration ibe finances of the club had greatly benefitted, also that Mr Andreae had been a tower of strength in the club's team, as he had most, successfully represented the club in Dunlop Shield 'matches and inter-club competitions. At the conclusion of Mr E wen's address. Mr H. P. Richmond, his fellfwv vice-president, made a short speech. Mr Andreae then suitably replied, and thanked the members for their good wishes, aud for their handsome gift. Three cheers were then given for Mr and Mrs Andraea by all present.
