The following letter has been ssnt to the Hon. W. D. S. MacDonaM, Minister of Agriculture. Wellington, by Mr. C. J. l'arr, M.P. for Eden: "Re Horticultural Experimental Farm. I am directed by the fruit growers of my district to bring under your notice" a matter in which they would be glad to have some protection from the .State. By careful experiment and culture of "seedlings, sometimes an entirely new type of fruit has been developed. "This has been done especially in regard to apples in my district. Unfortunately, however, there is no protection given to the discoverer of the new fruit type, and anyone is at liberty to take the benefit of "this man's original brains. I am sure you will agree with mc that origina: research of UiLs character in an important industry. such as fruit growing, should be enI couraged.
